Apple trees are being grafted. Most trees are named varieties that are good to propagate but there are also some unnamed trees that have useful characteristics. Where a full-size orchard tree is required an M25 rootstock is used, otherwise a garden-sized tree is produiced using the MM106 rootstock.

Cider is fermented pure apple juice and can be made from almost any variety of apple. Each county has its own traditional style of cider.
